Title: New member from North Florida.

Greetings friends. I've been task with building a work bench to display some old, antique tools in the tool shed of an historical house in Orange Park, Florida. I'm here to learn from ya'll and get some advice and suggestions.

A gentleman donated some 65 to 70 wood working tools, some of which I'm familiar with and others not so much. Some of the tools donated is an old horizontal drill press, stone grinding wheel, a lot of wooden hand planes, draw blades, frame saws, augers, chisels and more. My task is to build a work bench and cabinet to display these items and attempt to maintain the visual accuracy of something you would expect to see in the early 1900's.

I look forward to discussing this project with ya'll.

Hi, and welcome from Palm Harbor, FL.  You came to the right place for help and information.

I think your drill press is actually a post drill that would normally be mounted vertically on a post.  Makes them a lot easier to use.

Thanks for the info Mike. Searching in the term that you've given gave me some better understanding of the tool. Now I can mount it the way it was intended and free up some bench space. I'll probably have a couple more items which I'll need some help to better understand. I'll post pictures when that time comes.
