Title: Pliers, German, Special-Purpose
Post by: thrifttool on September 02, 2011, 12:54:33 PM
These pliers have smooth flat jaws with tapered dovetail slots cut in their sides (probably for the insertion of various adapters).  One handle is stamped "Germany" and the other what looks like "E&SSD".  Any ideas on function?

Howdy and Welcome from Phoenix... My guess would be some kind of crimping pliers…

Not sure of the function on those pliers but could the name be Easco?

Nice box joint -- I have an affection for box joints...

It seems to me that the dovetails were made to insert either different accessories, like a multi tool, or maybe new cutters.  The latter might make sense, considering how often you find a good pair of pliers that has become just about useless because the cutters have become so damaged.

I agree, in that it does look like an "Easco" stamp to me as well. But, I'm not sure Easco made tools in Germany? Did they?

re:  EASCO.  I photographed  the logo again.  It's not EASCO.  Still looks like E&SSD to me.

Replacement cutters seems reasonable to me,
