I had never heard of this spoke shave, or anything like it. Two of them hit eBay. Since I adore spokeshaves I bid my behind off on the first one below, and yep, it's mine, at a lot less than the $129 starting bid on the other (second URL below).
I'm hoping, Jim, that you can shed some light on this spokeshave.
I have always preferred the adjustable mouth, and am ever hopeful of finding another. Now if anyone has the appropriate thumb screw for the adjusting mechanism for the sole...

You did real good on this. I sold the oneI had for more than twice what you paid.
For what it's worth, Stearns also made a shave very similar to this, but without the flexible sole. Their other one also had an adjustable mouth. I have one around here someplace. Have to see if I can find it.
Stanley also made two with an adjustable mouth, the no. 53 and 54.

This one with the flexible sole is new to me, like I said. The one still up on eBay has a starting bid of $129. Figured I did alright, especially for a spokeshave I've never seen before, or heard of. I have a 53 and a 54 -- my first choices for working. I do have a Stearns that came in a tool chest years ago, but it had been dropped and is irreparably broken. Had another. neither Stanley nor Stearns, but it disappeared some years back.
