Title: Unknown tool

Post by: granpastoy on August 18, 2011, 08:20:59 PM: The wooden handle is marked with Lutz File and Tool Co. of Cincinati,OH.. The others with the leather thongs have Tool #9 on the back. I check the Lutz site and I think just the handle is a Lutz product.

Post by: geneg on September 03, 2011, 06:11:55 PM: Depends on the distance between the fork prongs, but we used to use something similar to remove the window crank handles on GM vehicles. Remember rollup windows? Between the time that they had a set screw & the time that they just slipped on, they had a contained spring clip that you pushed out with a fork. You are correct that the handle is just a universal file handle. Gene

I think I got it. I found "wedge sets for removing taper mount chucks from arbors or chucks" Picture on the bottom of the page at:

The ones pictured here have the same business end though not the length as Granpastoy's.

The Patent No. on the tool is 3196530, the K-D No. is 431, and the tool was made by K-D Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, PA.
