Title: Biesemeyer Fence, Hairline Pointer
Post by: Steve on June 29, 2014, 12:53:50 PM
The plastic pointer on my Biesemeyer fence has become fogged and I can no longer read it. I have spent several frustrating hours online trying to find a replacement part. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Steve

Just a possibility — I've cleared the "fog" from several firefighters' helmet plastic face shields with CD-ROM cleaning fluid.

Heating scratched plastic, after sanding to fine, puts on a nice fire polish.  Might mess with the accuracy though.

How complicated is it?  If it's a flat piece of plastic with a line scribed, can you just remake it?

Perhaps I should've exclaimed over how quickly the CD-ROM cleaner worked on fire helmet face shields?  Imagine firefighters mopping off their face shields with, say the sleeve of their Nomex shirt over and over (and over and over) every day on a fire?  I'd doubt that a "scribed line" would be seriously injured by such polishing.  Never seen a Biesemeyer Fence, though.
