Title: Genuine Whatsit
Post by: Branson on June 27, 2014, 08:32:48 PM
Does anybody have any idea what this is?  The left side is fixed, the right side has some little movement.  A lot of dark oil residue all over.  Looks like it's meant to clamp something to work on it.  The circular mark on one side appears to say "STAND" and the circular mark on the other looks like it might say "Test"

Here are the circular marks -- pretty much illegible.  Each has a three digit number, also illegible save that they are clearly numbers.

Looks very similar to a model aero engine test stand - I used to have one to bench test my compression diesel aero engines... Adjustabe for different sized motors... Modern ones are in cast aluminium...

This one, called the EZ-Just Test Stand, sold on ebay.co.uk recently... Note that the jaws are the other way to yours, Mike... To clamp the engine better...

The one in the pictures I posted is in a local antique store.  If you like, I can ask the price.

Mis-spent youth - or maybe not: just doing what we did in the 50's and 60's before chidrens' TV and computer games - control line airrcraft (stunt and combat) - still got a couple of  motors in the shed - ED Bee and a Frog 249 - might even have a plane as well....
