Title: Craftsman tool tote
Post by: john k on June 17, 2014, 06:35:39 PM
Here is a Craftsman Carryall, tool tote I found at an estate tag sale.  Didn't even see the Craftsman part til I got out in the sun.   Only one on the bay right now, no bids.  Mine has the small screw and fastener tub. Like the way the saw holder is incorporated in the ends.  I filled it for the photo, it came to me empty.  Anyone else have one?

There is one on etsy also, no bids, interestingly, says

"1950's era ... patent was still pending"
Dunno where the seller got 1950's, but it does say patents pending..

So there is probably a design patent somewhere for it...

Also says something silly about making a planter out of it ;P

(Never seen one before either, very interesting tote)

john k,

I love vintage tool totes.  The older & more unique they are the more I like them.  I've never seen one like the Crafty Carryall you posted above, but it looks interesting.

What is your tote made of and how is it held together?

I have 3 totes at the moment, two of which I made, and one that was made by my wife's grandfather (likely ca. 1900's-1920's).

There seems to be a world of ingenuity built into these old totes....

The bottom and sides are one piece.   The ends are fastened to it by rolled crimps.   3 pieces plus the wood handle.
