Title: Welding Rod?
Post by: radguy on August 10, 2011, 02:56:42 PM
I am guessing that this is a brand of welding rod. So lets see what everyone thinks. As you can see it says Fuse-Well on it.

Could that be lead? Might be from when body filler was lead.

I was thinking the same thing! It would be very easy to find out, just lay a little heat on the end of it. I have never seen soft solder with the company name printed on it, so if it is solder, they were very prowd of it.

Id say you solved it RLT! This must be their cast iron brazing filler stick rod? I can see now why they were so prowd to put their name on it. Pobably for repairs on engine blocks and or heads.

Most, of not all, weld rod for TIG will have flats on the ends with ID of what the rod is.  Here is an example of a rod we use here at work.
