Title: KKK Tool set Plier type with multiple interchangeable jaws, c 1900
Post by: cactus on August 09, 2011, 07:09:22 AM
As per the picture, this set of Plier type tools is missing the butterfly nut and one of the jaws, wish I could find them to complete it.
It is listed in Cope.

Cheers

Is the "butterfly" nut a wing nut as we would call it?

In Copes picture it looks like nut is cylindrical without wings but picture is too small to get detail.

Patent drawing shows rather standard wing nut. Also pair by antique dealer(Googol) shows wing nut in actual picture.Dealer has price of $120(no decimal point). Picture in Cope agrees with early picture in Popular Mechanics; later (1907) Popular Mechanics ad shows wing nut. Not sure what the cylindrical piece is.

Yes, wing nut not butterfly nut is what I meant to say. I was going by the patent pics.
