Papaw, your 1917 jar opener may be the catch of the day.

DATAMP search shows yours as patent # 1,225,231 granted on May 8, 1917
to Emanuel Fenstermaker, Lancaster, PA

listed as; "Screw Cap Wrench"

also states; not known to have been produced.

I found that patent and figured it was right.

Pretty cool to find such an old tool that was "Not known to have been produced."!

I was also right about the ring expander. Found markings on it-
RUSH PISTON RING EXTRACTOR
PATD MADE IN L A CAL USA
That lead me to the patent # 1278719 of July 1917
