Title: Spalted Maple
Post by: Papaw on April 26, 2014, 09:22:44 PM
Is there any interest in some spalted maple? I may be able to swing a deal for a bunch of it. Might be cheap. I need to know if there are any takers here, and what dimensions you might want.

I would.

Size depends on figure.  I really like 5/4 for use in boxes.  Works well for carving out for glass vessel bases, too.  My son-in-law likes to make pens, too.

I could resaw some thicker or un-cut, also.

What would you use it for?

I would use some for knife scales and send some to 64longstep.
This is one of the slabs it will come from-

Those are some nice slabs. Did it grow in Texas?

Not from Texas. It was offered by someone on  https://www.facebook.com/groups/350584978316356/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/350584978316356/)  . A Facebook group. I asked him for a price or some prices, but have had no response yet. I'll try to get together with him this evening.
