Title: Intro
Post by: Digital4n6 on February 01, 2014, 03:36:40 PM
Hello, my name is Richard and my profession is digital forensics.  My username, if you sound it out, is the same as the profession.  :)

Located in the northern 'burbs of Richmond, VA, I enjoy turning wrenches for a hobby.  Have a Factory Five kit car, a diesel car, and a diesel truck.  All are obviously heavily modified.  There is a four post lift in the garage, too!

"Spare" money seems to always go into acquiring new and interesting tools.  My favorite, if I had to pick one, would be my air compressor.  It is from 1948 and the tank is from Carnegie Steel, approx 70 gallon horizontal tank, with a 2-stage Worthington compressor coupled to a 5hp Baldor 230v motor.  Quite an effort to refurbish but well worthwhile!

My grandparents worked for The Stanley Works in New Britain, CT after WWII.  My grandfather taught me the value in old tools and not to throw them away, but to either pass them along to someone else or find another purpose for them.

Welcome Richard. You'll fit right in here. We love photos! I would like to see the cars and diesels.

Welcome to Tool Talk , Richard!
We love pictures of old tools and old cars & trucks, especially if old tools were used on them.

Welcome from Nebraska.   Anyone with a four post lift in their home garage is OK.  I bought a large air compressor awhile back, has a brass tag from 1948, talk about heavy.

Hi and welcome from Colorado.

My father-in-law has 2 four post lifts in his garage at his house.  If you want to use one, you have to move two cars first; the one on the lift & the one parked under the one on the lift. He prepared for retirement by building a 40' × 60' metal building behind his house. His shop gives me a goal to work to in the next 10 years or so. (I'm shooting for 50'×60', just to be a little bigger. I don't think I have shop envy, do you?)

Chilly
