It is about 18 inches long, the jaw opens and closes a couple of inches.  The edge of the open jaw is sharpened some.

looks like it could be an early tire bead breaker.

how wide is the top opening ?  the "C" configeration.

Thanks!  Tire bead breaker is correct.  Patent 1279076  Sept 17, 1918.  Made by Julius Bjornlie MFG.  Watertown, SD.  Never would have figured it out.
