Can one of you guys help me out
« on: February 07, 2012, 12:21:33 PM »
I need a couple of these, used to hold books together, you had the outside leather binding materail and these hardware went thru the covers and the pages and screwed tight to keep the pages tightly in place.
Need two, maybe 1.5 -2 long. I know some of you guys are hoarders like me so please give it some thought and help me put this old book back together. Thanks

It looks like what you have is a post binder or something similar. Sometimes called ledger binders or covers. A good accounting supply place may have them. They used to be common covered in cloth. Wilson and blueline are a couple brands
There were several sizes and styles of fastners. Extensions were available.
Hope this helps

Thanks, I have tried office supply stores ( staples ect ) and no luck. Wouldnt know where to find a good office supply store that carried items that did not require a hundred sales a week to keep in stock.
I was hoping one of you on-line wizards could maybe find the item.

In alumnium, easy:  http://www.11x17.com/Screw-Post-20-per-pack-P1239.aspx

In brass , may be a bit harder.....
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

The wife has those things holding her old photo albums together. It was the popular "expandable" album - you could keep adding posts to accomodate more pages. Maybe a scrap-booking supply store would have them?

I think I've seen those at our local Ace Hardware store in their mega fastener department.  Yes, we are lucky to have that store in our town!!!

Good luck finding what you ned.

What diameter do you have?  I just saw a posting binder go in the recycle bin at work, and maybe more will show up.  Most of these I know (used to sell them at my grandfather's store) came in about one inch sections so you could add more pages to the ledger.

Dimm witted any help with these would be appreciated, even a part number so I can order it if I have too, preferably brass. Thanks

Branson it would be the same diam as a hole puncher, are they all the same size, standard hole I thought and the longer the better, I can always cut it down if need be or I can just keep adding to the book.

I have seen the two and three pieces, one being the male, one being the female, ( insert male into female ) and the last piece may be the collar that slips over the male or female and is the same size as a standard hole puncher if you get my meaning. Thanks

I know it been a while but I am still looking for a couple of these at least, the longer the better at this point, prob gonna need 4,5,or 6 inches but will take what you might have.

I want them to be brass like the originals and the grungier the better, maybe someone has run across some of these recently, maybe someone cleaning out a worshop area Hint hint.

Please help me to get this old D.B. book back together. Thanks

Thanks, looks like an extension, I need the male and female, dont know that I need an extension if I can can get some long enough the first go, not enjoying the idea of spending 30 dollars either.

Someone will eventually run across some in a nickel book they see at the flea

Looks like something like this would work but I need longer. 380421314102
