Check it out.

I put it on watch thanks bob w.
-
Whoever wins this needs to scan it and make it available as a PDF!!!
The earliest mechanic's tools catalogue available that I know of is 1949...
-
No bids with less than 6 hours left!
-
Damn it all to Hell!!!! >:(
I just tried to snipe this with a $15.51 bid, but the bid was not accepted since the Seller doesn't ship to Canada. I would have had it sent to my friend in Michigan.
Pissed off...
-
I bought it! Didn't know you were on it. I will PDF it soon after I receive it and you can send him the file free.
I also bid on a 1937 Williams Catalog- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220818534261&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

You guys are supposed to mention you're interested, or going to place a bid. I was thinking about bidding on the Williams catalog but won't.

Woohoo! That's excellent news. I only wanted it to make the PDF available anyway since this will be the earliest downloadable Craftsman mechanics tools catalogue.
(I was only having it sent to my friend in MI to satisfy the seller's USA-only requirement; my friend couldn't care less about tools!)
OK, good luck on the JH Williams catalogue too...
-

You're quite right, eddie. Anything I win will be scanned & made available anyway, so no need to get in bidding wars with others doing the same thing!
-
I watched the post about it and no one else said they were bidding, so I bid. It will be available to all in PDF format.
I saw the Williams catalog in the suggestions under that Craftsman item, and bid, then told you guys.
-
Maybe you'll win the Williams also and then we will get two new catalog scans!
-
Been having problems. I have scanned the Craftsman catalog, but Scribd is being contrary about uploading. I'll try again later.
The Williams is out of my range now- over $16 with shipping. If no one here is bidding, I might toss in one more bid toward the end.

Right, we discussed some of the recent problems with Scribd at GG.

Seems you might require a paid subscription there now? That's no good...
Mickey O offered to host catalogues in that same thread. I presume he's serious...
(I'm out on the Williams catalogue.)
-
Williams went for $12.05, a dime more than my top bid.
-
See if you guys can see the catalog here- http://www.mediafire.com/?oxi5ot6l1ojat (http://www.mediafire.com/?oxi5ot6l1ojat)

Papaw, I can see it & download it! The image quality is excellent & the text can be read quite easily...
However, SCAN116.JPG (pp. 8-9) seems to be missing.
Thank you very much for your efforts in providing this (formerly-missing) piece of Craftsman history to your fellow tool nerds!
BTW, I have "assembled" the individual scans into a PDF file. If anyone knows a way this can be uploaded to a host, please let me know & I will post it. It is 51.1MB...
-
I had to register and download the "mediafire" toolbar. No big deal, but if you do that, make sure you select the 'custom' installation so that you can tell it NOT to make your home page and default search engine "Ask.Com"
Other than that, it works great. Thank you very much for uploading the catalog for us.
lbgradwell, couldn't you upload the pdf to mediafire now that you have an account there? Seems it would work the same way. Or does media fire limit your size?
YouSendIt.com is another hosting service, but they have a size limit too. Don't remember off hand what it is.
Thanks again! Kit.

Odd, I didn't have to register with mediafire. If necessary, I'd certainly register in order to post the PDF there or at YouSendIt, but in either case I'll wait for Papaw to add the missing scan before doing so.
Stand by...
-
Yes ,I was able to bring up pics.

Scan 116 is not there because it was replaced with another. Pages 8,9 are there in scan 137.

So they are. I wonder what happened there? I didn't download 137 either..??!
Anyhoo, I have now compiled the full catalogue.
Do you want me to post it to mediafire, Papaw?

I'll assume you're OK with this. If not, just let me know & we can move it to wherever you like...
In the interests of efficiency, I edited all the scans to reduce them to a resolution that still permits clear, clean viewing on-screen and managed to get the file size down to 14.12MB from 53MB (aka "Dial-up Hell").
The file should be available at:
http://www.mediafire.com/?wb9a9za447ysrxd (http://www.mediafire.com/?wb9a9za447ysrxd)
As before, would somebody confirm the download works and all is well? Thanks!
-
Works perfectly, and thanks again to you guys for making this available. That is my first look, on the last page, at the "amber handled" tools in their original state. Nice catalog.
-
Since I already posted it on Mediafire, I don't know why you did. Is there a big difference? I can't see it on Mediafire without downloading it, and I am at work now, so no downloads.

I posted it in a single PDF file...

It's much better as a single file.
