Title: Reproduction paint specifically craftsman
Post by: pennm on April 21, 2014, 04:21:37 PM
Dear Group,

Do you know of any company that sells reproduction spray paint for tools.  Specifically Craftsman colors?  Or has someone done a study/list of modern colors that match up with originals?

Sincerely,
Matt Penn, Tampa, Fl.

Welcome to Tool Talk, Matt!!

I don't know if anyone has researched that.
The old tools we usually discuss were not often painted, except for japanning and some of the popular tractor wrenches.

Are you thinking machines, or hand tools?  If you mean machines, then there's some information over on Vintage Machinery (vintagemachinery.org (http://vintagemachinery.org)).  Look at http://wiki.vintagemachinery.org/PaintColorsCraftsman.ashx (http://wiki.vintagemachinery.org/PaintColorsCraftsman.ashx).  You may have to register to see this; can't recall whether there's a guest status there.

If that's not enough, the sister site, Old Woodworking Machines owwm.org (http://owwm.org), is a set of forums with folks who can help.
