Title: Unknown trademark on an old drawknife. Anyone help?
Post by: Sunbeam500cc on May 30, 2018, 02:13:33 PM

Wonder if anyone can help identify the makers trademark on this old drawknife.
It measures some 15" (handle to handle) and has some age.
As this message is from across the pond; might be British or European.
The logo looks roughly like a rabbit/hare and a dog...but could equally be a stag (or any other animal for that matter!)
Thanks in advance; woodworking tools are bit of a mystery to me.

Can't help on the knife, but I'm intrigued: you own a Sunbeam?  Pretty nifty motorcycles.

Thanks for your replies.
Not sure we have the maker yet.
Have to agree it does look rather like a dog on the right of the mark.
Sure someone will know; if not back into the workshop it goes!

I have had drawknives like that one that were made in France.  I think those were Peugot Freres, whose logo is a lion.

Here is one example of a  Peugot Freres mark.

Papaw,

Thanks for posting the pic.  I looked through pages of Peugot Freres logos on Google and did not find any that looked like this one.

Eagle flying left, cow facing right.
Horse and carriage/buggy.

Dunno, but i think it's rad.

This is a hard one.  The stamp actually kind of looks like roadkill, I gotta say.  But the drawknife looks sweet, so who made it may be of interest only, rather than absolutely necessary to know.
