I'm finding myself constantly challenged with trying to understand acronyms being used here. I figure if I'm having an issue, there are probably other folks having the same. I thought it would be nice to have a place to list those (and their meaning) that are common among tool discussions here. I will do my best to maintain as I see them surface. Below is my start with this morning's reads:

I think RHFT would be round head fine tooth ratchet, and another meaning for POS would be a reference to an unloved "piece" :)

It looks like the list is missing BFH -- Big F'n Hammer.
Also, I see the term FUBAR all the time but have no clue what it means... I can guess the first two letters, but need help with the last three.

A variation on FUBAR is "f***ed up beyond all repair". This version was relayed to me by Navy chief petty officer.

The one that I find stumps most folks is , POSH (port outbound- starboard home).
if you are up on your Victorian history you should know the origin of this one...

I've heard that, but it still sounds like a folk etymology to me. I'd like to see some real evidence. If it really did originate in the Victorian era, it is remarkable that it didn't make it into the Oxford English Dictionary. Just checked, and the only "posh" in the OED means broken into parts.
The Oxford Universal Dictionary (later publication than my copy of the OED) gives it's earliest written example as 1918, as a slang word for money. That puts it, essentially, into the Vulgar or Canting vocabulary, where it could be some vestige of English rhyming slang.
