Plomb 5249 rat
« on: May 28, 2012, 05:53:40 PM »
Got the top Plomb rat at garage sale. Does anyone know about vintage of these two. The one I had had big letters and (Made in USA) and the new one has small letters and (MFg  USA) Sorry didn't take photo of other side but small letters on top one and big letters on bottom one.
Also got a 1/8 wood chisel at same sale by Ohio Tool. Nothing special about that but 1/8 didn't survive well. Need to go eat but will add pic of chisel and reverse side of rat soon.

Jim, I believe the "Made in USA" is about 1944 to 1946 and the "MFD USA" is 1946 thru early 1948. These dates are my best guess so they could be off a little either way. Nice ratchets.

Can't help with the ratchets but you got to love that bold embossing!
Say it loud, we're Plomb and we're proud!

The chisel? Well, the next time you need to clean out a cane channel to redo a chair that chisel will be your best friend in the world.

Really sweet table. I love a piecrust.
