You should have seen the eyes of young folks when I would light the glue on fire before placing the patch on bike tubes back in the day!

Remember the SMELL of the smoke as the patch was lit on fire? I sure do!
And the HOT orange patch on the tube. A camel was the trademark, and weall said that must be what a camel smelled like.
I patched literally hundreds of tubes in high school while working in the gas station!

Good old hot patches were great.I remember putting 20 cold patches on my 1956 Triumph 20" front tyre [british spelling] also had a rim lock to keep the tire from spinning on the rim.shortly after this I learned how to do it right using hot patches.I also installed a new tube...
