Post by: jabberwoki on January 28, 2013, 07:39:51 PM
Got these today the first one is bloody ancient check out that handle the 2nd one is a Pexto and the 3rd one has conover,n.car.usa on the handle and what looks like strea lin tools in beautiful script on the head???
Then a little lead head and a  railway spike hammer?

A little hard to tell, but the bottom one appears to be a blacksmith's square punch.  The handle on the first hammer is a vacuum grip -- it might be a replacement handle on an older head (I really like the head, by the way).  Vacuum grip handles were being advertized in Popular Mechanics in 1930 and 1931.  I find them surprisingly comfortable.

It seems to me I remember those vacuum grip handles on the Proto hammers that used to hang on the tool boards in the parts store we frequented back in the early 60's.  Never got a chance to use one though.
