Title: 1956 Craftsman Power Saw
Post by: Lostmind on October 05, 2012, 09:49:50 AM
I thought I'd share this. I don't normally buy power tools, I've got more than I need.
But the design of the case and saw was so neat ,I had to have it.
The saw locks into the case , and the piece it locks into is the cover for the storage area.
It even has the manual and some blade flyers.
The cord was badly deteriated, so I installed one I had around. It really needs an industrial type , and longer cord.
This saw has a nice feel and great balance, plus it looks good.
It only uses a 6 1/2 blade ,but good for home use.
Now I need a project to use it on.

A handy size for certain jobs, yes.

The series with that style case were often referred to as the "Breadbox" saws.  I have my dad's old one.
The 207 prefix indicates that yours was made by the American Floor Surfacing Machine Company.

I really like the box design.  Looks very convenient.

Easy to handle is right.  And easy to handle for long periods of time.  I got a 6 1/2 inch blade Porter Cable for doing theatrical stage work after watching a 5'4" tall, maybe 100# woman stage hand out-do a bunch of us with one of these.   Bought one with my next pay-check after that.  I use it more than any other now.
