Craftsman Hammer!
« on: February 08, 2013, 10:40:22 PM »
I posted a photo of this hammer awhile back, but since then I found something.   I thought it was another of the many (shop made project hammers), with the turned head, and turned checkering.    Was at the bench, polishing some piece of rust.  While looking for next higher paper, picked up some polishing paper, gave the tubular handle of the hammer a few wipes.  When I lay it back down the light struck the surface just right.   Right in the middle of the tubular part, ====Craftsman===, logo without a doubt.   Now There are possibly a few of you guys with some old Craftsman catalogues,     Somewhere around 1950 I am thinking?

Like you say, it's clearly been "machined from solid" and yet to have the craftsman name on it is pretty amazing. I wouldn't be surprised to find out it was even older than 1950 by a decade or three.
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.

Any marks on it other than Craftsman?  letter?  how about a closeup of the Craftsman letters so we can see the font style?

Braved the cold to go to the shop, and brought in a handful of tools.  Hope you can read this.   Was thinking the shaft may be hollow, but the handle, (aluminum) definitely is.
