Title: Posts Tongueless Cultivator wrench
Post by: jimwrench on September 01, 2011, 07:38:24 PM
The good news is I acquired a fairly rare wrench at auction saturday. The bad news is it was in such bad shape that I had decided not to bid on it. They threw it in with a couple of wrenchs in better shape but fairly common. This wrench evidently dates back to the 1890's. Since I had it and coudn't read anything on it I gave it a vinegar bath and (Posts) appeared. As you can see (Tongueless) is illegible but Posts and picture in Rathbone identify it. I wonder how many of its 100 plus year life it was buried ? Its way beyond seveely pitted but I can't throw it in scrap barrel. Now I have to keep it till I find a better one unless someone has a better suggestion.

No better suggestion.  It's survived all these years through rough times, and I think has earned the right to a nice home.
