Title: Schollhorn Pruning Shears - No. 25-8
Post by: Yadda on January 28, 2015, 01:44:33 PM
I bought these late last year.  I like to garden so when I saw this set of pruners with handles that matched my Schollhorn 102 pliers I was intrigued engough to buy them.

The blades are huge.  Much larger than current pruners.  The hub of the tool on the side not seen is imprinted "Pat. Pending No. 25-8"  This is the only pair of Schollhorn pruning shears I have ever seen.  The handles still have very good spring to them.  It needs sharpening, but when put to the test it easily cut a half inch branch.

For comparison, I included my Leatherman Hybrid and a Felco Model 7.

I had one of those last year, but they were not in very good condition.  I have a parrot head pair of Sargent (Schollhorn pattern; later company) pruning shears listed as an Ebay auction now.

first pair I've seen and I keep my eye out for Scollhorn. I have many Scollhorn but no pruners.

Never seen a set of those before Lyndon. Wow, those are big blades. Looks like they could accidentally amputate an extremity if you weren't respectful of them!
