Title: Brass handled pipe wrench
Post by: Northwoods on June 26, 2020, 01:49:45 PM
Ten inch pipe wrench.
The number 220 clearly stamped on the fixed jaw.
On the shank are four lines.  I will give them as best I can.

STILSONS WRENCH
PAT (followed perhaps by date)
WALW (garbled)
BOSTON

Yes, it has to be Walworth; out of Boston.  Just figured that out.
Now looking for one with brass handle.  It has a 5/16" brass end cap and is cleanly peened on.  Does not look at all to be an owner-made tool.

Could it have originally been a spark-resistant wrench on which the original jaw got lost and replaced with a steel one?

Or a wooden handled Walworth with a replaced brass handle?  But it looks professionally done.
BTW, would the missing diamond logo make this Stilson an early or later Walworth?
