Indian Motorcycle Ad
« on: December 29, 2012, 01:53:31 PM »
I figured I'd post this ad for Papaw, who bought an Indian motorcycle wrench from me at my last sale. This ad is from the March 1937 issue of Popular Mechanics.

Wow...looks just like papaw ;P

Even in 1937 the fellow on the bike won't wear the free helmet....

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Maybe what he's wearing is the Free Helmet.  Can't expect too much for free.  Remember back then a helmet, even for football players, was only made of leather without much, if any, padding.  That thing the motorcyclist is wearing looks like it might be good for keeping the bugs out of his hair but not much more.

I have only ridden an  Indian once, and I wore a helmet
That rider is wearing the free helmet.
