Title: Craftsman Whitworth wrench set
Post by: JoeCB on May 07, 2014, 04:38:48 PM
Hello all. going thru my old tool box and found these , brought back good memories. I bought the Whitworth box wrench set from Sears back in 1967 so the I wouldn't bugger up the fasteners on my then new 750 Norton Atlas. I still have the wrenches, but I sure wish that I still had the bike. The tools are Craftsman -V- , size from 1/8 W to 9/16 W. If you are not familiar with the British Whitworth  standards system, the nominal sizes in inches are not related to the fastener head hex size, but rather to the bolt stem size, ie.  the 9/16 W wrench fits a 1" hex.

That's a cool old set. I don't suppose you still have the green bag they came in?

Forum is being weird. Loading the picture directly returns a 403 error (Exists, Permission denied)
Either the forum software decided to moderate them for no reason, or the web server is a bit confused ;P

Folks- This is an ongoing problem that I have little to do with, nor do I know what to do about.

Photos hosted on other photo hosting sites will post just fine.

And now I can't see either of the OP's two photos nor the copy of his photo that was in my first post above.

I can, however, see kxxr's photo directly above...

I know *why* they are broken, but not how they got that way.

The pictures are attached to the *next* thread after this one, not this one. The next thread is moderated, so the pictures broke...

I am wondering if the forum has done that before but nobody ever noticed because if you have access to the next thread, the pictures would work anyway? hmm

Silly software...

I am at this moment working with an SMF forum member upgrading Tool Talk. We hope this will help things.

Joe- Try posting the pictures of the Whitworth wrenches again. Forum upgrade may have helped.
