I am in the hospital in Webster, Texas, due to some sudden swelling in the legs and abdomen, with serious shortness of breath.
Looks like I'll be here at least through Monday.
According to the docs, there is no heart problem, though I have been in Atrial Fibrillation for the last 20 years.
Gonna have to be here till the fluid goes away.

Hey Pawpaw, Do what they tell you to do, and enjoy the food! oops. Did this have anything to do with the excessive heat?
-
My best to you, and hoping for your speedy recovery. When you start asking for tools to the hospital its time to go home :-)
Hey Pawpaw, Do what they tell you to do...
Great advise!
-
Nothing to do with the heat, just poor circulation.
-
Glad you have your "laptop" with you.
Webster has at least 5 hospitals, which one is yours?
-
I am at Clear Lake Regional in the Heart Tower.

As a buddy of mine from Arkansas used to say, "Get better every chance you get!!!!"
....and keep those maintenance guys and gals at the hospital from drooling over your stash of tools. Hopefully you won't be doomed to wearing compression socks the rest of your life.....
DM&FS
PS: The Bergman arrived very healthy. Thanks
-
Joining the chorus, best wishes that you get well soon!

Thinking about you, it's was a year ago that I was laid up. Enjoy the air conditioned room but get better soon.

Bummer!! I hope you got the cute nurse.
There are always one or two.....

Sorry to hear that you are laid up, Papaw. I know that there is gourmet food in most hospitals, but get well soon so you can get out and get back to the bratwurst, beer and Dorito diet.

Been poked and prodded everywhere it seems. Looking for a cause of the sudden swelling and loss of breath. EKG shows no heart congestion, and no valve problems. Just finished an ultrasound on the legs looking for clots, and won't hear results till Monday.
Scheduled for a drug induced stress test on Monday also.
I lost about 20 pounds since entering the hospital. They've really getting a lot of fluid out.
Doc just stopped by to say that I'll probably go home after the stress test if all goes well. He might be a little optimistic.
-
All the best Papaw.
-
I feel for you being away from home .No natter how good the care is there is no place like home
GET WELL bob w.
-
Oh my ! Your only allowed to "Check Out" of the Hospital. That's a new Forum Rule !!! And GREAT forum owner, administrators'
have to follow the rules.
Get well soon.

Get well soon.........
I have a pretty descent coin collection and am told when
I'm gone she's gonna sell everything for 50 dollars.
That keeps me going, think about them tools someone
might get for next to nothing :-)
-
I am home finally. Can't say it was a total waste of time, we did get the swelling down and eliminated any serious heart conditions, just need the docs to study all the tests and figure it out.
Follow up in a few days, and check in with my Primary Physician Tuesday morning. If what this heart doc says stands I'll lose two drugs, so that is good.
-
Hang in there papa, there is nothing more frustrating that watching a bunch of doctors try to reach a decision about something ;P
Drug interactions can do all sorts of weird things, so perhaps it will all be for the best in the end.
No more massages from the cute nurses tho ......-P

Get well soon!
As I said on facebook I have the same symptoms and have had the same tests, I really didn’t like the “non stress” stress test. Everything came back normal. I still can’t walk more than 200’ without being out of breath and in pain. I am going for another test next week where they measure the volume of air you take in and the oxygen in your blood god I hope they find something to help me and if so I will tell you so they can check you. And vise versa.
-
I have follow up appointments set up, release to go back to work, and plans of action to avoid this situation in the future.
The main problem I had was low volume of oxygen. They did several tests and several Albuterol treatments to clear that up.
-
You're out?..... yay!!!!,,,, and back to work, so, taking anymore time off or going right back at the nightshift?
-
I'm taking a couple more days off to be sure. I'll be back at work on Sunday at 6 PM.
-
Glad to hear that everything is under control again. Nice to hear that you are out
-
Glad you're home, Pappaw. Now get FULLY recovered, asap!
-
Glad you are home , I understand that the company you work for had to hire three men to replace you. about your low oxy ,do you hear c-pap or ventilator mentioned? and did you get a couple of suckers ( in halers) ?.I have had that problem since 1992 when i lost The use of 70 % of both lungs in a chemical accident .You listen very carefully to what the doc says and follow his orders to the T . bob w.

They put me on an Albuterol Breathing regimen while in the hospital, but didn't prescribe that or CPAP yet.Since being home, I've had no breathing trouble at all.
