Title: Proto ratchet
Post by: john k on March 24, 2013, 07:23:15 PM
In the RR maintenance truck that had the big red wrench, there was a Proto 1/2in. ratchet.   Heavy, plain as heck.  Taken a lot of abuse over the years.

john k,

That is a well made ratchet, but fairly modern ca. 2000+.  Came in black oxide or polished chrome. Knurled handle is a nice touch and probably a nod to the good old days.

That is the new pattern! This one took a lot of abuse in a short time!

Thanks, spying that ratchet down in the rusty tools, and the age and condition of the wrenches, and knowing it was railroad,  I was under the impression it was at least 30 years old.   Handling it, and looking at the abuse its seen, never would have guessed it is maybe only 10 years old.   I don't believe I've seen a new PROTO tool board around here in at least 20 years though, so hope I"m forgiven for posting a (new) wrench.

Forgiven.  The Font is the only thing that *might* have kept me from the same mistake.
