18" monkey wrench
« on: October 24, 2013, 10:47:25 PM »
Found these at farm auction this week in 2 boxes of old wrenches. Have been looking for an 18" auto for some time. Was there ever a larger one made? The small one is British Made while the other is King Dick.

That is the largest that I have ever seen. I thought that 14 in was as big as they got. But, my ride on the turnip truck has not taken me everywhere. Is it marked with the circle M for Moore Forge?

Does anyone know which came first? The little King Dick or Billings & Spencer? I have a B & S with an 1879 patent marking.

No manufactures mark on it other than a V sideways on the end of the jaw that moves

I was wondering about the maker.  I have one of these 18 inchers.  Mine was made by Diamond.  It's also marked for RXR use.

Vlchek, most likely...
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
