"INDIAN" motorcycle wrenches
« on: January 20, 2014, 01:56:23 PM »
Has anyone come across a list of wrenches from the old Indian motorcycles? I thought someone had published a book on these wrenches but cannot seem to find any info on it. Most wrenches were marked INDIAN MOTOCYCLES or INDIAN.

yes, I have one published by Joe Kontos.  Greenwich, Connecticut.
He was selling them on e-bay.

the title is;  Indian Motorcycle Toolbox Wrenches

it was published in 2010

I will look to see if I can find his ebay name, but I might have deleted it.

Thanks. I checked ebay- no results at this time. Nothing on Amazon as well. But will keep your info about title and author and somewhere one will show up. What is your review of the book? Worth purchasing? How many different wrenches are listed?

Bruce,  I located my book on Indian wrenches,  the guy that wrote published it shows pictures of wrenches in his collection.  there is 31 pictures of wrenches. 27 Indian & 4 aftermarket wrenches with the R in motorcycle.
with the ER logo that he could not identify.
he shows variations in adjustable made by Wakefield,Charles E. Hall, Manzel & Moore, which was Moore Drop Forge Co. in Springfield, home of the Indian.

he shows the aligators, open ends & box wrenches, but no mfg. I.D.'s

as for my opinion on the book ?  I found out that there are more variations out there than what I have.
also, he does not show shop or factory tools.

when I had visited the old Indian museum in Springfield before they closed, I wish that I had taken pictures
of the tools in the display case.  I will have to check the Springfield City museum where Mrs. Mathos had
donated her huge Indian collection.
