Cooper's bick (anvil)
« on: June 30, 2015, 07:44:31 AM »
It's kind of a toss up whether to put this in woodworking or blacksmithing, but since it's a cooper's tool I'll put it here.  My new acquisition fresh from eBay:

OK, it's been buggered up, but $39.99 for a hard one to find at all?  It has been cut down and welded to a heavy plate to serve as a small bench top anvil.  Edges aren't good, but for cooper's use it makes no difference; it only needs to work for flaring a hoop and riveting the hoop together.
Right now it's really portable, so I can pack it and use it when I go to demonstrate coopering at Fort Ross at the end of July.  Afterwards, I hope to cut the plate off and make it like this:
