On my watch list for reference only. It jumped up fast, it appears to be an ok example. The lock release knob is there and it appears the lock segments are intact. He doesn't show a good picture of the bottom of the wrench showing the lock release and the locking segments. Too bad the plating seems to be gone or dull. I have to many of that size already. Seems that the 6 inch ones are more common than the larger ones. Still looking for a good 10 and 12 inch one.

At least he isn't asking $16.45 for S&H.

true, only $ 4.95 s/h,  plus their starting bid was a tad under ten dollars.

I believe that the seller is surprised.

Hello, Looks like the current high bidder started out with a high bid of $50.00, and is now back in the game, Lou

with 30 minutes left, and 5 bidders in so far, it has surpassed more that what I paid for my 18" Ellis.

UPDATE; SOLD-SOLD-SOLD $190.50

just a tad over 19 times what he listed it for, happy seller.

Another 6 in up on eBay. This one might go higher yet as it is yet a different style locking lever on the swivel head.

I saw that one, I have never seen that type in the real life.

 in his write up, he states;

"I don't think it worked out as well as they planned, it did not get used."

I know that my eyes are not 100%, but those jaws look well used.

now, if only I could remember where I buried that full box of NEW 12 inch Ellis wrenches.

I dug out my Fine Tool Journal with Dan Gaier's Ellis article last night and he says this style is the one most like the patent and believes it is the earliest version.

Hello, Turnnut. My eyes aren't that great either, but am I seeing wear/damage, on the knurling? Regards, Lou

Lptools,  it's possible, the knurl not protected, it could get banged up from tossing it in a tool box,
even in use in a tight work space.

 (just my opinion)  Frank

some companies sold repair kits with jaws, springs, adjusting nuts, etc.

somewhere, I have a box with NOS Crescent parts,  (yes, somewhere ?)

Not nearly enough keywords in the title on that one. You have to almost be specifically looking for the Ellis wrench to find it. Your advertising it for him here might help him some though.

I search eBay for Ellis Wrench but some times that doesn't catch them. I saw a 6 inch listed as Gellis not to long ago because the seller thought the 6 was a "G" . All kinds of miss-spellings on eBay. Search for wench sometime under tools.
