Craftsman Ratchet Display
« on: March 15, 2018, 10:22:47 AM »
Here's another display I made. While it's different than the Williams display board I posted recently I wanted something small to show a group of Craftsman ratchets off. I machined a bunch of misc Chinese sockets I had laying around in order to make the ratchets removable from the display in case I needed to use them. The frame is welded steel and the base is white oak.

On another forum it was brought to my attention that the oldest ratchet, on the far left, was assembled backwards.  Every ratchet I buy gets disassembled, cleaned, greased and reassembled. For what ever reason these wrenches and their internal works intrigue me so very much. Very possible that I put it back together backwards. Still works though!

That's the first time I've heard of a good use for Chinese Sockets. Great job.

I have an old Craftsman 1/2" ratchet similar to the one on the left in your 2nd photo.  It too has a 1/2" square hole, but is riveted, rather than screwed together.

Fabulous!

That's nice enough to put on my desk as a conversation piece.
