Title: ratchet repair

took this apart,put back together,,,not that easy :huh:....still skips,so i guess its just worn somewhere i couldn't see?....its a blackhawk 49998 w/long handle....1/2"

Are these the guts? Looks close.

New Britain mechanism. If the teeth in the head don't look too bad take a look at the one spring. Notice in my pic one leg is longer than the other. It has to go in the right hole. Maybe you switched it around?
If all else fails maybe you could find a rebuild kit.

had it correct,was definitely a challenge,though....thought maybe the other spring wasn't pushing out enough,maybe ill take it apart again and stretch it a bit?   i give up for now

Since the N.B. design was used in alot of different ratchets, check and see if you have another branded one that you could swap the gear assembly into your problem ratchet. This may help narrow down the problem to the original gear or the teeth wear in the head. Just a SWAG.
