Title: PAY IT FORWARD -- Tool Giveaway/Exchange
Post by: JessEm on August 26, 2013, 08:26:01 PM
The rules are simple. First person to reply "I'll take it" gets it. That person then pays it forward by offering something. And on it goes. The giver is responsible for shipping. If an item is unclaimed after 14 days, the giver must offer a new item. The idea is to keep the thread going...

All members are welcome to play. Just remember that when you take something, you have to give something!

Please let the giver know when the item arrives.

I said Craftsman, but, can't find it.  So right in front of me is  a heckuva pipe wrench.  A genuine HD Smith, PERFECT HANDLE-patented.  Some little bit of surface rust, no pitting, zero, not bent, and the wood scale handles are virtually perfect.   Not wire brushed, shellacked, painted, or even splattered with white paint.  It is roughly 14 inches long, with the jaw closed, and says 14inch right under HDSMITH.

I'm a sucker for a pipe wrench, and those of the wooden handled variety are few and far between here.  Send it my way, PLEASE!!!!!!!!  I promise to love, honor, protect, etcetera, etcetera....until death due us part.

My offering?  A Ampco S-1100 Phillips BECU screwdriver.

Thanks. Hopefully some new members and lurkers get involved as well.

Agreed. ... And I think the sender should advise when he's planning to ship. Particularly if there will be a delay. :) Personally, I always assume things are getting mailed in the next day or two. I know it doesn't always work this way, but that's how I think. I start watching the mail and I get anxious if it doesn't arrive when I think it should, when, in reality, things aren't always sent the next day.

Not that I don't appreciate it, I just don't need it. Not that that's stopped me from picking up tools in the past, but I'm trying to limit my acquisitions these days to tools I might actually use vs tools that are cool. I've already got my trading stock picked out for when the right tool comes along. That said, I hope this screwdriver finds a home.

BeCu is Beryllium Copper.  It considered to be of high strength, while also being non magnetic and non sparking.  One application is in a refining environment where you wouldn't want to create a spark (let's say in a gasoline truck loading rack).  I understand it is appropriate to note it has toxic properties.  You do not want to breath the dust or vapors of it; although it is thought to have no health concerns in a solid form.

Old iron wrenches, sure!   Something about the simplicity of the combination open ends.  I'll gladly take them.   Will offer up a 12 inch adjustable, (Crescnet-type), in your choice of Diamond, or some other brand.   Straight from the farm, workable, oiled, but with working dings, scrapes, showing it was in use for 30+ years.  Do I need to show a pic of an adjustable?

Forged Crestoloy  Steel,,,,  Made in U.S.A.  The better one has no weld marks, intials, is not bent, has 80% or better  chrome remaining, is just minus the screw for the knurled adjuster, not sure I have the right one aorund here.  May have another but take a day to get to it.  So?

My offering is a metal punch press, by Whitney metal tool co. Ive had it a while and its time to go on to its next owner. Its handle has been cut down by previous owner, and its currently set up as a center punch. I was told other dies are still available. I have dissembled it so it fits in a flat rate box.

dang, wish that handle wasn't cut.......

I agree.

If the handle wasn't cut and it came with a complete set of dies it would be fantastic. Its still worth saving, but just not as good.

I have to make everything fit in the garage cabinets or my small shop so my mom can get her car in the garage over winter. That's the reason ime starting to make room in the cabinets.

Its still a cool piece, so if anyones interested let me know.

I wonder if a person couldn't get a replacement handle from Roper Whitney. They still make this punch, or one nearly identical, the No. 16. I know they stock parts for their bigger machines, maybe they stock some for their punches as well. And the dies are definitely available from them.

Alright, I've come to realize, with a rash of recent health issues,  I will probably never get around to rehabilitating these two "perfect handle" screwdrivers. I've tried to show in the pics what needs done to them, some straightening and/or regrinding of the tips. Scales are intact, just loose. Need a little peening of the pins to fix them.

Also, throwing in a Mossberg 252 doe wrench. rusty but in good shape. should clean right up.

Three nice oldies for someone that will appreciate them.
Enjoy, whoever wants them. US only please, as I can't really afford shipping out of country at this moment. I hope that request is ok.

Great, since I recently depleted my PH screwdrivers, I'll go for these, and that Mossberg.   In turn, will bring something in from the shop tonight, which may include a nice little pipe wrench I just dug up.   Thank You.

Just saying, I have about 15 monkeys, at least 4 in some sizes.    When I put up a giveaway, if I didn't get takers in 5 days, would replace it with something different.    But then I have piles to choose from!

I'm struggling between a couple responses:  1) the tools I love most are "beat up", and 2) Offer another.

I once struggled giving away a nice sparkless screwdriver :)

I don't think the thread is dead or dying.

Thanks for the offering, John!  I would take you up on it, but frankly have another of the same.

This was a good thing, Interesting, fun,...
So what happens when it Stalls? Maybe new rules? (Other volunteers? add in "tool worth more than shipping?") I can check my stash on what extra tools I can send from Hawaii. (@Small Flat Rate items)

PAY IT FORWARD -- Tool Giveaway/Exchange
« on: August 26, 2013, 03:26:01 PM »  Quote
The rules are simple. First person to reply "I'll take it" gets it. That person then pays it forward by offering something. And on it goes. The giver is responsible for shipping. If an item is unclaimed after 14 days, the giver must offer a new item. The idea is to keep the thread going...
All members are welcome to play. Just remember that when you take something, you have to give something!
Please let the giver know when the item arrives.

Here's my offering:

1.  A pair of older Vise Grips - no model number on movable jaw, patent information on the release handle, both of which I think makes them WWII or older.  The fixed jaw has a welded repair, but these should make good users.
2.  An (im)perfect handle screwdriver, waiting for a restoration.  The side shown is the funkier side.
3.  A cute little pair of needle nose pliers, Omega brand.

The before photos would show an empty back yard.  There had been a garage many years ago (the house was built in 1925) but it burned down -- long enough ago that there
wasn't even a sign of the old foundation.  So, not a remodel, but a new build.  Everything got expensiver and expensiver, so things got done in stages.  The last stages were
getting the electrical done, which meant disassembling what had been done so I could work, and get out tools that had been in storage.  And as long as almost everything was
out, insulation and sheet rock went up.

Now that the electric is in, and the sheet rock is up, I'm putting everything back in a more organized way.  And that is taking more time than I thought.

If Branson will permit, I will give this a Friday night jump start.

Here are two nice dupes from my 1/2 x 9/16  DBE collection,
and a vintage PLVMB 3/8 extension (both arrowheads point down, whatever that means).

Look em over boys !!  You know how it works!

I'll definitely permit!  I've spent the past weeks working on my shop every day.   Electricity in, insulation up, sheet rock up, one workbench disassembled to get it out of a friend's basement and reassembled in its new home.  ShopSmith returned to service (new motor, pulleys put in their proper position).  Yesterday I finally was able to move the 4' by 8' work bench in!  It's been almost 10 years since I last had it to work on.  Built in more storage (much more still needed).  With that big work bench I can lay out big batches of stuff to sort through for the pay it forward.   Still have to get a lot of boxes and some chests of tools out of storage and into the shop, leaving enough room to work comfortably.  Next step is to disassemble the General National table saw, now in that same basement, haul it home and reassemble it.   There's even enough room for it -- the 4 X 8 workbench will serve as an out feed table as well.

I thought (silly me) that all this could be accomplished in a week...

Okay, I told self that if they be here by evening, I'm jumping in, I just checked and the sun has gone down.   Those Easco wrenches are starting to grow on me.   Consider them taken.   Now to head out to the shop and find something to photograph.

Here tis, very decent, almost unused Craftsman metrics.  The all important 13 and 15 are there, and the  increasingly popular 7mm, speak up they can be yours.

I need those. I'm finding that I don't have enough metrics and Cratsman's are my working set.

Thanking everybody for being patient with me.  I just got enough cleared in my shop to put a pay-it-forward package together.

Kraeuter #948 battery pliers
Kastar feeler gauge set
AC sparkplug gauge
A[ex #1510 stubby bit holder NOS
Clip for S-K Wayne #45 M wrench set -- metric

I'll send 'em out a lot faster than I found them!

I'd like to have that lot, Branson.

Mainly because my initials are AC and I pickup anything that has AC on it in the way of spark plug tools!

The rest is pretty nice as well!!

Well I'm confused.
Do we have 2 pay it forwards going here at the same time?

Am I getting johnk's offering and am I supposed to put up something, or is keykeeper next up because he is getting something from Branson?
Title: Re: PAY IT FORWARD -- Tool Giveaway/Exchange
Post by: Papaw on May 28, 2014, 08:56:27 PM
One was started because Branson needed time to get his ready. No problem running two at a time, just keep track of who asked for which first. All that should be covered in PMs.

As I understand it, if you get something here, you put something up.  No reason why we can't have more than one going, in my opinion, as long as everyone remembers who's getting what.  It makes it more fun.

>How do those cam-loc wrenches work?

They have eccentric rollers that only dog in one direction and retract in the other direction, so they roll out and conform to the hex head going forward and grab it, and they retract in reverse allowing the hex to slip by, thus providing ratching motion ....

Sorry for the delay in getting this posted. Been without phone and internet since last Saturday. Seems like someone was digging and cut the phone lines. Living in a remote area of Colorado, things don't get fixed as fast as in the big cities. But things do get done eventually and now all is good.
So, here is my offering. A real nice Plomb WF-21 3/8 ratchet with a couple Plomb universal sockets. The sockets are 7/16 (WF-73) and 1/2 (WF-74).

Here we go, I hope these are good choices.  [I will give it til Saturday evening - if no one likes these I'll post something else].
4 wrenches - hey wait - does not include my favorite ruler! That's for size reference, it's a 6" ruler.  None of these are plated.
Indestro DBE 25/32" and 3/4"
Indestro stamped 7/16 over 20 and on the other side 7/8 is stamped at an angle.  Not sure of the actual sizes but may be 1" and 7/8".
Eclipse wrench - about 5/8".  What is the story behind this one?
And a Plomb DBE  1/2" x 9/16" WF-81.  "Plomb" has V in front and upside down V behind. This one has always wanted to be rusty.  Needs some linseed oil rubbed in or something.

Well, I said I would post something else by this evening if the wrenches weren't adopted.

JP Danielson Betr-Grip Forged Steel wartime 12"adjustable with 3/4 broaching in handle loop.
These are in very good condition but have "GH"'s initials chisel stamped in handle next to loop, G on one side H on other AND he stamped his initials with letter stamps up near the adjuster.

those were made by Walden Tool Co. Worcester, Mass. around the years 1917-1924
for the automobile industry.  the Tomahawk was for the Ford Model - T,  as were
a few of the others.

Mr. Rascal,
I would be honored to hang numbers 9 and 10 on my wall. I think that the Walden Model T tools are part of a set.

PM to follow.

Thanks in advance.

the 620 Tomahawk might be a 1620 Tomahawk.

the 2418 was listed as a Ford socket wrench in 1923

then in 1924 it was also listed as a socket wrench for Chevrolet
it should have 9/16" & 3/4" sockets

Walden made many Ford "T" wrenches, then around 1924 they came out with a
new display board of socket wrenches for Chevrolet cars.
the big sales tool display board was #39B,  It held 5 each of, 13 types of wrenches.
the board was 5 feet by 2 feet,  boxed for shipping, the board was listed as 108 lbs
and the 65 wrenches with hanging hooks was listed as 88 lbs.
all for $66.75

I found one on eBay that is nicer and easier to read. That one shows original blue paint. I did not want to disturb the patina on mine. That would diminish the value.

M KLEIN & SONS.  CAT 3146A  2-76. BELL SYSTEMS

Maybe now it will interest someone.

Id really like to have that one hander cause I found this 10 inch one hander within the tools I recently purchased. I think it needs a friend.

I am not a fan of pipe wrenches but that one looks extra clean, if you would like to send me the one hander and keep the pipe wrench though cause you can sell it later than that is OK.

This lot of tools that I have left over, miscellaneous stuff, according to some guys on GG these TrueCraft and PowrKraft tools are collectible.

Some wrenches as well that are not going with my theme.

At this point this is the best I can do cause I dont collect tools to give away or trade, I collect them cause I want them/use them and I just dont have spares unless I run across a deal where I buy a bunch of stuff.

Hopefully someone here will want these.

There are some Proto sockets in there as well.

If no-one wants this stuff than someone else can go cause Im all out for the time being until I sort thru more stuff.

Say "Bzzzzzz..click..click..click..swish" as you go back and forth

Everyone will assume you have a real ratchet ;P

I have to give away what is maybe a complete standard Indestro socket set, all but two are Indestro ( one is Napa and the other a name I have never heard of but U.S brand )  I remember using them 40 plus years ago as a kid.

They were my dads and they were as my father kept them and used them. Sizes 1 inch to 5/16 3/8 drive.

Nice socket set and I am sure someone would enjoy them as much as I will enjoy the planes.

I am offering this unusual old ratchet, square drive hole approx. 1/2 in.  Not rusty, just lots of use and shelf wear.  Patina, yes, patina, looks to have been nickel plated at one time,  no numbers or name if I recall correctly.

Well, had quite a week, so am changing the offer to this deal:   took these pics tonight, so I know exactly where these wrenches are!    You got choice, any 3 of these, Proto, Plumb, Indestro, Williams, etc.  Will lighten the tool box for me.

I like double box end wrenches I'll take (3) DBE.
The big one on top in the first photo, the one below it & the Plumb in the second photo

All 3 of these are Plumb, the third one is a Plumb pebble, so PM me an address.    Having iffy contact with my satellite reciever, may take a couple of days extra.    Just checked and these are Plumb with a V.

The small pin vises and small bits come in handy when you smash a finger nail and need to relieve the pressure.

I just use a needle, heated red hot over a gas burner (not sure how you do this if you have an electric stove).  I've had to do it just a couple of times, thank goodness.  Freaked my bride out both times.

I did my sons with a pin vise and small bit a couple of months ago. For a brief moment,  it was like a little blood geyser. And a huge relief for the boy.

If you have a small tap and die, you can thread the hole and a plug in case you need to relieve it again.

Ok, after being gone the last couple evenings, I put together some offerings. First to respond IN THE THREAD (and PM shipping info) can have their choice of one of the three following:

1- New Britain NS-65 1/2" drive ratchet, not a shelf queen, but still works. Needs cleaned/lubed. (First two photos)

2- Couple of Massey harris wrenches...One marked z 43 w/Canada on reverse and one odd one marked M555
Claimed by Skipskip
3- Walden 3150 1/4" ratchet, needs cleaned/lubed and a Newer, strange 3117 breaker bar with no detent ball on it?? I put the other older one I have beside it to show difference. Same model number, just different. Old one not included. Off the Amecks

If anyone wants the others for cost of shipping after someone has claimed "FIRST", then they can have those for shipping cost to their location. I can only send first item to US address, can't afford international right now. Thanks.

TWO  smallish perfect handle screwdriver projects

both need wood scales refinished, tips ground, and shafts straightened.

but think how much fun you will have caring for these, and how happy you will be when they are done.

Sorry for the delay, it's been a heck of a week!  Last Wednesday the took out another bone - the right hand pointer finger end this time. All the hassles and restrictions kept me out of the garage for awhile.

Here is my offering - a NIP Armstrong 1/4" speeder. Very nice chrome finish.

I show my other one below the package,  so that it can be seen.

I always think they are better, I am lucky that way.

Like I have said before,  I wouldn't ever want to trade my problems with anyone else. Overall, I am happy with my problems and blessings (I feel they go hand in hand.)

Dr. on Monday said that he is glad that I won't die from that bone. (They did the surgery 5 days earlier than planned.)  I replied that I haven't ever been afraid of dying (it's true, probably just how I was raised.)

My only question now is: If I am in a group where we vote by a show of hands, do I get a full vote, still, or only 93% of a vote?

Chilly

Nobody wants / needs a 1/4" spinner? I'll just have to post some alternates, I guess?

Seems like every week I open up my tool box and notice one of them has an Armstrong logo on them that I never noticed before. lol

Im gonna start out with this 1/4 Snap-On socket clip, looks like it has barely been used, some very small areas of slight surface rust forming at the base of the clip but should clean up with a little bit of WD-40 and some steel wool.

I was told that this was the very first socket clip that Joseph Johnson himself hand stamped out way back in 1920 but I have no concrete proof.

I will add though that if one were to  look at the backside very closely and under just enough magnification one would swear under Bible ( not me :) ) that  a number 1 is visible ( although honestly I am contemplating if that is just a bit of surface rust )

I am also under the impression that the number 2 socket clip just recently sold ( popular online auction ) for the sum of two million dollars but I just dont have the time or energy to list something on E-bay and deal with all the con-artists.

Screwdriver NOT included.

ok, socket clip, I get it now. Thought 1930 was being serious. I'm all full up on socket clips at the moment, even a couple rails to go with them.

No thanks on the proto wrenches, if they were Wright tool co. I'd be all over them!

No problem, this is what I have to offer, let it stay up for a while and if no-one wants them ( cant imagine why not ) than someone else can go, I have other tools I do not mind giving away but these are nice wrenches and someone will eventually come along that wants them.
I thought Proto was pretty popular with you guys

My offering, in thanks for 1930's Snap-On box: a pair of bicycle wrenches.  One is a Billings and Spencer #97 wrench, with a maker's mark from the 1880-1910 period (according to Alloy Artifacts).  The other is an anonymous wrench, with no markings at all.

I've owned a couple of those flare nut wrenches over the years; it hadn't registered, though, that they were flare nut wrenches.  The design I've been familiar with, used on automotive brake and similar lines, were all six-point, and, of course, smaller.

I have matching Husky wrenches 33024 and 33028 in my hand last evening drooling over having a set someday as users.  They sat in my Ebay store for a couple years unsold.  I like the feel.  Trying to leave the thread for others as well but I'll bite if not gone soon.  Proto driver can go to 1930 if I bite.

OR between John and I we could get you to 4 wrenches should there be somebody wanting to assemble a set of Husky USA.

Thank you,Heelspur.
OK,gents.
Here's my offer.
Its a Bell system lineman's wrench made by Klein and sons.
I don't know a thing about these wrenches.
Does the 2-67 stamping mean it was made in February,1967?
Don't know if anyone here collects Bell System stuff or not.
If not,I'll put up something else this weekend.

Got the Thorsen stuff and its nicer than I expected.Thank you very much,Heelspur!
I was going to offer something in place of the Bell system wrench, but I happened across a Bell screwdriver to go with it.
The blade has a bit of a bend to it but it should straighten out OK.
If it doesn't go,I'll put up something else.
Thank you for your patience,guy's.

OK, my turn.  Here we've got a set of Goodell-Pratt inside calipers, a set of Starrett outside calipers with a quick-release nut, and a Craftsman drill bit gauge for number drills 1-60, with a tap drill table for screws from #2 to 1/4" (calls out the drill bit size for the clearance hole, too).

No nibbles on my offering of last week.  Here's another attempt.  Your choice of two T-handles or one ratchet.  Details:
1/4" T-handle is a Plomb 4785 (unless that reads [triangle]785 - eyes ain't what they wuz).  The surface is a little oxidized, but not rusty.
1/2" T-handle is a Williams S-20A.  Nice and clean.
1/2" ratchet is an Armstrong S-91.  There's a little rust on the knurling on the handle, and around the head, but it should clean up nicely.  One cool feature: the ratcheting-direction lever has a detent on center, where the drive will freewheel.  Unless this was a bug, I assume it's for those times when the bolt is free-running enough that you can twist the socket with your fingers to speed it in/out.

If you're consumed by lust for all three, and agree to kick a little money Papaw's way to support this neighborhood (amount purely up to your budget), I can send them all.

WOW! Bill, I thought the calipers & drill gage would have been grabbed!! 10 days & no nibbles? now the pot is sweeter with those drivers...
If no one else is interested, I would be happy with either set,  Up to you, what ever is cheaper to ship to Hawaii,
(FYI, Flat rate shipping is same for all U.S. states, so a small box at ~$5.95?)

Looks like you're the winner.  Yes, I'll be sending whichever package flat rate, and any of them will fit in a flat rate envelope or box, so let me know your preference, and your address - private message maybe best.

Unfortunately, that's why I don't post here much.  I've tons of stuff to show you guys, but it's simply too much of a bother to resize, or "share" (I have to share pics publicly before you can see them) and post links, etc.  Please don't take that the wrong way, it just "is."
Title: Re: PAY IT FORWARD -- Tool Giveaway/Exchange

twertsy,

I upload all my photos to Photo Bucket, then link the IMG code to any thread on GG, GJ, or PW.  It never fails except when they're doing maintenance on Photo Bucket (seldom).  With Photo Bucket/IMG code you don't have to worry about photo sizing/resizing.

The only thing you have to remember on PB is:  NEVER DELETE A PHOTO FROM YOUR BUCKET.  This will cause you to loose ALL the photos you've posted on all three sites.

So get with the PB...

It's a "Google convenience" thing for me.  Every pic I take is automatically uploaded to my plus account, and I attach/use from there.  Issue is I have to "share" the photo(s) to the public to link you guys to them.

I haven't counted them but I did inventory them and every piece listed on the label is in the box.  If that's 17, then there are 17 in the box.  It's a really cool set, everything is free moving, and the ratchet works as well.  It came out of a barn in Richmond, VA.

Did the momentum get lost on this thread?

When JessEm proposed this exchange, way back up there in his first post (two years ago!), he suggested the following rules:

The rules are simple. First person to reply "I'll take it" gets it. That person then pays it forward by offering something. And on it goes. The giver is responsible for shipping. If an item is unclaimed after 14 days, the giver must offer a new item. The idea is to keep the thread going...

All members are welcome to play. Just remember that when you take something, you have to give something!

I think this one's stalled because the last items posted didn't get takers.  It'd be nice to see this one start up again.

To get this going again and to issue a challenge-
Here is a nesting set of Sherman Klove box end wrenches.
I am not sure what size is missing, if one really is. The pin seems to be correct since it is stepped, but the wing nut is probably not. When assembled, there seems to be room for one more wrench. The sizes I have are-
7/16 x 3/8
9/16 x 1/2
11/16 x 5/8

7/8 x 13/16

1" x 15/16
The challenge is to find out if there really is one missing, and to report if found.
Weighs 15 ounces, so it will be in a Flat Rate Box.

OK Everyone, sorry for the delay- I have been searching for the right things for the last few days, and I think I found some. I was also delayed in my search by a new grand-daughter born Wednesday. That’s two in the last 6 weeks and a son’s wedding! (Plus surgery last night, the kind I get every 12 weeks to put a block in my spine.) And I booked about a fifth of my years sales last week. I had a great week, but I am still catching up.

I opened Papaws package just now and here it is with the missing wrench:

(http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac6/chillylulu/Sept%202015/20150926_141745_zpsbnvdituk.jpg) (http://s880.photobucket.com/user/chillylulu/media/Sept%202015/20150926_141745_zpsbnvdituk.jpg.html)
It was perfect – I had most, but not the complete set. I didn’t have the stepped bolt, and a couple of the wrenches had been over-used and had ripped open.  I have an affinity for S-K tools and they are my personal users.

I will be posting at 8PM Mountain time zone tonight and I think it will go quick.  One of my previous give-away exchanges took a while, but another only took a minute and a half. So that’s 4 AM tomorrow (I think) for billman, 10PM for you out East, 9 PM for Central Timers, and 7PM on the west coast. Oldtools will be at 4PM in Honolulu.

I plan on offering a choice, with something for classic car tools, antique tools, woodworking tools, metalworking tools, classic power tools, and 6 inch and under tools – something from each forum except farm tools (but I may come up with something else for that, too!)  I’ll probably save the other items not chose for future sharing.  There will be more in the box than what is shown, too.  I know that one item will be tens of millions of years old and dead (it doesn’t smell.)

Personal thoughts / rant:

I feel that this thread should be something more special than unloading the extra stuff you got in a lot of auction tools. Papaw set the example with the Sherman Klove auto-kit.  I say – offer the best you can, if you can. Don’t look at this as making a great score or trade – that’s not the point. If anything it’s a great opportunity to share a great deal that we didn’t necessarily need – but couldn’t pass up.

I’m not saying that you should spend money that you don’t have or that you shouldn’t jump in if you don’t have something nice or interesting to offer. We’ve read comments from people who liked something but thought they couldn’t participate if they couldn’t reciprocate.  If you see something you can use or that you like, go for it. Maybe after you think about it you could put together a little something, or maybe a grouping. Something hand made by other members is always nice to include.  If you try to but can’t think of anything to put up, let the forum know and someone will step up. If you don’t want to put it out there in front of the whole group, PM Papaw or me or someone and they’ll take care of it or find someone else who will. If you PM me, copy Papaw because I’m not always here as much as I would like to be.

There have been some really cool items (IMHO) that have sat for a while – and very rarely there have been some items offered that were a little less well thought out. Everyone take this in the spirit of fun and sharing it is meant for. This forum, somewhat anonymous as it is, is great for sharing thoughts, knowledge, insight, caring and friendship.

My bad guys sorry it took so long. Chilly PM me to let me know he is still putting my package together. Looking forward to that, and will post pics of it when it comes as I promised him I would.

Now for my offering, it is not much, but I hope someone wants it. It is a Proto Professional 5449 1/2 ratchet. I hope one of you guys would give it a nice home. I cleaned and lubed it, it's ready to go to work. Any takers.

Damn I love that punch set.

Maybe I'll use that the next time. Maybe I'll use it to sweeten the pot sometime.

I bought a new one 4 yrs ago from Rio Grande for ~$36 - the Whitney brand is tops in my use and this one is the best of the 3 I have gained since I bought the new one.

IMHO the prize lot was the pliers. Nobody makes them better than Lindstrom - I've bought new Lindstrom pliers and paid over $65 for the pair. They must think that they are pretty good, also.

Yeah, the pliers were the lot I was thinking about snapping up :P But, pliers are the one tool I abuse, and I would have destroyed them... Didn't seem right to do that to those.

I originally selected the ten Japanese Craftsman SAE combo wrenches. But Chilly also sent me; five pliers, three vise grips, drill bit stand witch I already put some of my drill bits in, a international harvester socket, a Ace professional 3/8 ratchet, a Plomb wright field 3/8 ratchet, a neat socket wheel with handle, and two cool Geodes. Again thank you so much Chilly.

They are ammonite fossils. An extinct Mollusc:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammonoidea

Geodes are a geological formation of hollow rock shell with crystal formations lining the inside.

Twilight is correct. They are two halves of an ammonite fossil that has been cut in two and polished.

They come from Morocco. My other hobby, that turned into a business, is rocks and minerals. It is also partly where my nic came from. My company is named Chill Zone Minerals (a metamorphic term I picked up in a college geology class.)

One is a WBH2022 11/16x5/8 DBE wrench. One is a WBC1214 7/16x3/8 DBE wrench. One is a 19/32x1/2 DOE wrench, and one is a WBE12 3/8 combo wrench.
