Wizard Number 120
« on: January 29, 2012, 07:15:51 PM »
Anybody else see this wrench on ebay? Just another old unusual wrench but it looks like it had a pretty cool Wizard logo at one time. Rust and pitting have taken their toll but I don't think I have ever see the Wizard name in that particular style before. Wizard and Worcester Mass. are visible. I was thinking the font was the same one used on the Disney "Aladdin" stuff, but I looked it up and it's not quite a match. I know I have seen it elsewhere, but I don't know the name of the font. Here's the link for anyone wanting to have a look. It looks like it could get near $100 or more ...

A variant of Comic, but likely not a real type face, logo's often are custom designed letter by letter to get just what is needed to give a particular look.

That poor wrench has been sitting face down in a wet place for a long long time, it's a shame too, mechaniclly it is in rather good shape, not bent, gouged, beaten on, twisted .....

Also a shame because I haven't seen that particular one around....

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Not common but not rare either. Good ones usually sell for under $40.00. I just finished listing one for the Spring Auction at York, Nebraska (Lot 399).

Patent is on DATAMP at:

http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?pn=1436049&id=48260

If anybody is interested in watching the catalog "in progress" it's at:

So it's a Wakefield Wizard, not a Western Auto Wizard.
