Girard Wrench, from the New York Times????

I bought this wrench for $7.00. I quickly ID'd it as a Girard wrench from 1870 to 1890 but then I noticed a stamp. NTY Co, I searched and they only company that I could find was the New York Times! could they have used this to fix their printing presses at the time?

It is a Girard, but it says N Y T , not N T Y. I can't say it was not marked by the New York Times, but am not sure they would have used a monkey wrench on the presses.
Might more likely be from a railroad. Was there a New York Transit?

New York Transit Co, 1901-ish to 1917-ish, but not a railroad, a oil pipeline (transport) company..

There was also New York Transportation Co, a Bus company going back to 1899
