Title: Wolverine Alligator Wrench
Post by: chips on April 20, 2015, 09:21:53 PM
Picked this up at a sale the other day.  I've never seen anything like it and thought it was pretty cool.  It measures just about 7" long.  Stamped "Wolverine" and the patent date.  The patent number is 923,420

"This invention relates to tools, and more especially to the handles and shanks of wrenches; and the object of the same is to produce a wrench whose-handle or shank is so constructed and connected with the head as to permit the tool to be used in cramped quarters where those of other shapes could not well be employed."

Pretty cool! Looks like it would function as a "basin wrench" if you needed it to.

The Wolverine stamp is just above it and is as close to the top as the patent date is to the bottom, so I believe that is just the way it was made.

That's what I was thinking too.  It was in a box with a few other wrenches and one of them happened to be a modern basin wrench.

#88 in "Antique & Unusual Wrenches" did not have the "WOLVERINE" stamping.  An identical one with "WOLVERINE" and the patent date  was shown at the MVWC Spring Meeting.

Sure! Because if I can multi tool it, then I can justify buying it.

MULTI-TOOL ???

"Honey, I bought you a combo bottle opener/towel rack."

"if you don't like it, I will take it out into the shop."

Have you been monitoring my private conversations with my wife?
