Reach For The Sky
« on: July 29, 2023, 08:00:17 PM »
My latest addition, Clary M. Tune patented wrench. Patent 1,733,288 issued October 29, 1929. The wrench was manufactured by Rex Engineering in Cincinatti, Ohio, Rex was established in 1928. Tune lived his whole life in the Tiptonville and Memphis, Tennessee area his whole life. This is the only one I know of per this patent. The wrench measures 9-inches long. As can be seen the patent number and patent issued date are hand stamped on the wrench, the Rex Engineering stamp appears to be a one-piece manufactured stamp.

I found a soldering gun styled like a revolver some years back; my son wound up with it.

Too cool... a "one hand" adjustable wrench, or a wrench for a one armed man

Wow. Congratulations on that find! Does it adjust by the knurled wheel using built in gears?

3Bay, yes, turn the knurled knob in the trigger position and the jaws adjust. Just like the patent drawing, a set of bevel gears drive the spur gears that turn the adjusting screw.
