These ratcheting handles are generally called corner braces but can also be used as shown in the top example. The one on the lower left is the same as the one at top except the rotating handle has been moved to the top position. The one on the lower right has a metal rotating mushroom instead of the rotating wood handle and allows greater pressure to be applied when used as a corner brace. I have not seen another example of the mushroom handle and wonder if it is factory--although it appears that it is a factory form. They ratchet forward and reverse and have a locked center position. They are designed to take bits with a tang and will handle very large bits.

I'm glad I never had to use one.
Looks like hard work.

Hello, Coolford. Thanks for sharing. First time I have ever seen the one at lower right!!!

That is the one I'm wondering about, as I also have never seen another one like it. I had them out as I recently picked up another one like the other two and was checking the condition. The one I picked up at auction was not known to anyone there and they thought it was missing parts. I didn't educate them and picked it up for $2.50 as no one bid but me.

Right nice. I've got an incomplete one, and was proud to have that - you've got quite the great collection there.
